Dr. Jean & Jason Larsen are highly experienced in restorative dentistry and can handle almost any case.

Our treatments will restore the natural function and aesthetics of your teeth, and prevent further complications down the road.

We offer a wide range of restorative treatments for damaged and missing teeth and can restore your smile in just a few appointments.

After restorative treatment, you’ll look your best and feel more confident when you eat, speak, and smile.

What’s the difference between composite and metal amalgam fillings?

Amalgam fillings use a mixture of silver, mercury, tin, and a number of other metals. They’re very effective, but have a grayish color which can make your smile look discolored after treatment. In contrast, composite fillings are made of a special dental resin that can be matched exactly to the color of your surrounding teeth for a more seamless look.

What are my options for dental crowns?

At our office, we offer both lab-made and same-day CEREC crowns. Lab-made crowns are a good option if you can wait a few weeks for your crown, and you don’t mind wearing a temporary prosthetic while your permanent crown is manufactured. Lab-made crowns are also the best option for patients who have teeth broken or damaged below the gumline.

CEREC same-day crowns are made in a single appointment, making them a better option if you want to restore your tooth quickly. These crowns look and feel natural, and you can leave our office after one visit with a fully-restored smile.

What can I expect during root canal therapy?

If your tooth is infected, root canal therapy is necessary to remove the infected pulp from the inside of your tooth and prevent further damage. Dr. Jason or Dr. Jean will numb your mouth, then isolate the tooth with a dental dam. Next, the damaged enamel will be removed, and a small hole will be made in the tooth. The infected pulp will be removed through this hole, then your tooth will be cleaned and disinfected. The tooth will then be covered with a temporary filling or crown to protect it as it heals. Once the site heals and your permanent crown has been made, you’ll come back in for your final visit. At Parkside Dental, we can perform root canals on both anterior (front) teeth and molars.

What can I expect during a tooth extraction?

Basic tooth extractions are relatively routine and the procedure takes only a few minutes. First, your mouth will be numbed. Then, Dr. Jean or Dr. Jason will use specialized dental tools to loosen your tooth in its socket, then gently remove it. Finally, the area will be cleaned and sutured shut.

A surgical extraction may be required if your tooth is impacted (driven back into the socket), or for certain types of wisdom tooth removals. During these procedures, extractions require an incision into the gums and sedation to ensure the patient is comfortable. It may be a more complex procedure with longer healing times when surgery is required for your extraction, but rest assured that your procedure will go smoothly when you receive care at Parkside Dental.

Are dentures right for me?

Partial dentures may be right for you if you are only missing a few teeth and would like to restore your smile with a removable prosthetic. Compared to dental implants and dental bridges, dentures are typically a more affordable option.

Full-arch dentures, which replace your upper, lower, or both arches of teeth, are only recommended if you have lost most of your natural teeth or they have been severely damaged. This is because full-arch dentures require the extraction of all of your remaining teeth. To learn more about dentures, schedule a consultation at Parkside Dental.
